PPL/IFR/CPL instruction, flight reviews and IPCs out of SEE and MYF. I am not building time for the airlines so will not leave you in the middle of your training.

Five Stars Isnโt Enough

Kathleen is amazing. She is super detail-oriented and truly loves teaching to the A+ level โ which is what you want. Donโt expect to get away with any B or C grade performances for long. She takes it upon herself to get you to that top-notch level. Sheโs got her syllabus and her agenda to get you ready for your checkride. And she will make sure to cross every t and dot every i. I donโt know of any actual statistics, but I would bet that her first-time checkride pass rate is higher than most of her peers. She will build your knowledge and your confidence as she builds your skills.
It also amazes me how adept she is at getting things done. Kathleen can charm the grumpiest of airplane owners and get them to keep their planes in top-notch condition.
Another great thing is the community of friends and contacts she has built. Kathleen nurtures friendships among good people and she is always planning fun events and outings. Iโve been privileged to come along on some of these. They are always a blast!
I canโt say enough about Kathleenโฆ not only is she a great flight instructor, but sheโs a fantastic person with a great personality and always makes learning and flying fun!

I just passed my PPL checkride with Kathleen and I am so grateful for her knowledge and support through this process! She is very well connected and organized, making it easy to see what needs to be done. She will hold you accountable and is always there to help and answer questions during flight lessons and outside of them. She has a ton of experience making her very reputable, and wants you to succeed as much as you want to!
One of the BEST!

I started my instrument training back in 2013 in New England. Like many, life and work got in the way, and despite having accrued all of the required flight hours and satisfied all of the other prerequisites, I was unable to take my checkride and have โInstrument Airplaneโ added to my certificate.
Fast forward some years and life, having different plans for me, sent me roughly 3,000 miles southwest of my "home base".
Approximately 10 years after my "last" training flight, I took my "first" training flight all over again as I had rekindled my determination to finish what I had started almost a decade prior.
In search of an instructor, I found Kathleen "the closer" Devlin. More on that later.
It turned out that Kathleen was not only who and what I was looking for in an instructor but also exactly who and what I needed. Kathleen brought an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience to the training environment which is always a student's benefit.
Having begun my training on your standard six pack, the specifics of ADS-B, GPS, and ForeFlight were rather new to me. Without missing a beat, she was able to propel me into the world of advanced avionics and technologies without breaking a sweat... well, maybe a little sweat (but let's just blame the heat).
Kathleenโs appeal as an instructor does not stop there. She understands the complexities and frustrations that all aspects of flight training bring and, without losing patience, helps her students overcome those obstacles and seeks out ways to alleviate those frustrations. She aims to instill confidence in her students leaving them not only as smart pilots but also as safe pilots, all without demanding perfection. As a plus, she does all this while making the training environment fun and comfortable.
But wait! Thereโs more. Kathleen drives to promote aviation not only through her students in the air but also on the ground through her numerous community-building efforts to which she remains so passionately dedicated.
In fact, it was at one of her community building events where she was dubbed โthe closerโ due to her numerous students who chose her to help them complete their already started and partial/incomplete training, myself included.
This fun factoid is more than just that, however. It is a testament to her knowledge and competence as a flight instructor. While it's true there are many CFIs and CFIIs to choose from, it will not take you long to realize the benefits of training with Kathleen, and you will not find a better training environment this side of the magenta line.
Blue skies and tailwinds, always!

Kathleen is the reason I didnโt quit flying! Sheโs absolutely incredible. She truly values her students and your success is her success; your learning is her priority. Flying with her was enjoyable and every lesson I learned something new. I felt beyond prepared for my check ride. She is a talented pilot and instructor. Iโm grateful for the foundation of flying I built with her. I honestly cannot say enough positive things. I highly recommend her as your instructor!
Excellent flight Instructor

I've been flying since 1978 and the love of flying is still as strong today as when I first began. I have flown many kinds of aircraft and flown with many pilots and instructors. I have to give a shout out to Kathleen who stands out above so many as an instructor/ pilot who has a GREAT passion for flying and drive to shares her knowledge with professionalism, authority and calm. She KNOWs aviation and her instructor style is so natural, encouraging and puts you ease even when you mess up. She is always a delight to fly with or just chat with. I always learn something new. She puts the joy in flying for sure so THANK YOU Kathleen for who you are and all you do to help us be smarter, safer pilots.
